Air Liquide is the world leader in gases for industry, health and the environment. Air Liquide innovates for the sake of progress while striving to ally dynamic growth, consistent performances and responsibility over the long term. Present in 80 countries with nearly 50,000 employees, the company generates nearly € 15 billion in revenue (2011). Transport and logistic optimization is critical for Air Liquide's competitiveness. Due to its huge number of clients to deliver around the world, Air Liquide is facing very large-scale logistic optimization problems at strategic, tactical and operational levels. Since MIP solvers are failing to solve such combinatorial problems, Air Liquide's R&D engineers chose LocalSolver and its innovative modeling language (LSP) to reduce the time spent in developing their optimization solutions, while obtaining good-quality solutions quickly.

The French Army (Armée de Terre), is the land-based and largest component of the French Armed Forces, placed under the responsibility of the French government. The French Army has a budget of €8 billion and employs 122,000 regular personnel (2012). The Centre de doctrine d'emploi des forces (CDEF) of the French Army develops the doctrine of employment of forces of the French army, which aims to ensure their best performance in operations. CDEF extensively uses OR methods and develops OR softwares to provide a rational support to headquarters, as well as to solve operational problems. The officers from CDEF were immediately seduced by LocalSolver: a natural mathematical formalism to express their optimization problems, a solver first oriented toward the computation of quality solutions in short running times. Now CDEF uses LocalSolver to optimize the French Army's supply logistics.

The human resource department of Bouygues SA, the parent company of the Bouygues group, organizes corporate seminars on transversal topics, where participants must be dispatched into several groups for attending to specific workshops. The seminar planner has to assign the participants to groups while optimizing several criteria: balacing men and women in groups, balancing subsidiaries represented in each group, maximizing the number of meetings between participants, etc. This quadratic assignment "puzzle" is a real headache since the number of participants may exceed the hundred. Even for OR geeks, the problem is far from being trivial: classical math programming (MIP, CP, SAT) solvers fail to find any feasible solution after hours of computation! This time-consuming and tedious planning task was automated by a lightweight Excel solution based on LocalSolver and its modeler. Now, the seminar groups are built in a second by just pressing one button!

Bouygues Telecom is a major French telecommunications operator. Providing mobile, fixed, TV and Internet communication services to 11 million clients, the company generates €5.7 billion in revenue (2011). Each day, the company's 9,800 employees develop solutions aligned with changing customer needs and deliver efficient support. Bouygues Telecom's mobile network covers 99% of the French population and over 170 countries worldwide through roaming agreements. Its 3G+ network provides mobile Internet access for 93% of the population. In 2011, Bouygues Telecom conducted a deployment planning study using LocalSolver (mobile network partitioning). The modeling capabilities of this new-generation solver allowed obtaining solutions in a few days of work.

Bouygues Energies & Services (formerly EDTE) is an expert company in energy management and related services, providing facility services and energy solutions to public and private clients in many business areas: industry, services, transport, telecommunications, nuclear energy, etc. Operating worldwide, Bouygues E&S has 13,000 employees € generating 1.6 billion in revenue (2010). When tendering for street lighting contracts, Bouygues Energies & Services uses a LocalSolver model in order to offer the best possible price to its customer, subject to quality of service requirements. Thierry Guil, who led this project at Bouygues E&S, was impressed by LocalSolver speed: "We are now able to optimize large scale maintenance planning in a few minutes, where our previous software took half an hour".

Fujitsu is the leading Japanese information and communication technology company offering a full range of technology products, solutions and services. It is the world's third-largest IT services provider measured by revenues (after IBM and Hewlett-Packard). Fujitsu chiefly makes computing products, but the company and its subsidiaries also offer a diversity of products and services in the areas of personal computing, telecommunications and advanced microelectronics. With approximately 173,000 employees, Fujitsu operates in over 100 countries, generating 4.4 trillion yens (US$47 billion) in 2012. OR experts from Fujitsu Laboratories are using LocalSolver to solve large-scale supply chain optimization problems. They have migrated from MIP solvers to LocalSolver for its ability to scale and answer quickly, which is vital for operations, as well as for the simplicity and richness of its modeling formalism, making the development and the maintenance easy.

Renault is a French multinational vehicle manufacturer. Established in 1899, the company produces a range of cars and vans, and in the past, trucks, tractors, tanks, buses/coaches and autorail vehicles. In 2012, Renault produced 2.6 million vehicles with 127,000 employees, generating € 41 billion in revenues. Thus, Renault is one of the biggest automaker in Europe. Operating 17 plants around the world, Renault is facing challenging manufacturing and logistic problems. OR experts from Renault were limited by the power of actual math programming solvers. For example, the car sequencing problem, which consists in scheduling cars along the painting and assembly lines, is totally out of scope of MIP or CP solvers. Integrating unique local search features, LocalSolver provides quasi-optimal solutions in minutes to this problem.

TF1 is a major media group in Europe and the leading television group in France, with almost 25% audience share and 45% of the TV advertising market. TF1 operates 16 television channels, 128 radio stations and 15 websites, generating € 2.6 billion in revenue (2010). On TV, the first and last positions in a commercial break have a strong advertising impact. In order to optimize the dispatch of these preferred positions between advertising companies, TF1 Publicité integrated LocalSolver as optimization engine in its information system, providing an unequaled responsiveness (in seconds) to operational users.
