LocalSolver at ROADEF 2014 // 27 Jan 2014

The LocalSolver team will be in Bordeaux from the 26th to 28th February for the annual congress of the French Operations Research Society, namely ROADEF 2014.

LocalSolver 4.0 : nouveautés et benchmarks

Notre ambition avec le projet LocalSolver est de fournir un solveur de programmation mathématique tout-en-un pour l'optimisation non-convexe en variables mixtes. Pour ce faire, LocalSolver est basé sur une recherche par voisinage variable, en guise de recherche globale. Son architecture peut être qualifiée d'hybride, notre volonté étant d'y intégrer toutes les techniques d'optimisation opportunes pour l'exploration de voisinages : recherche locale, techniques de programmation linéaire en nombres entiers, propagation de contraintes et inférence, techniques de programmation non-linéaire, etc. LocalSolver 4.0 est un premier pas vers ce solveur d'un nouveau genre. Cette version permet d'attaquer des problèmes aux variables de décision mixtes, c'est-à-dire combinatoires et/ou continues. LocalSolver 4.0 intègre des techniques de recherche locale/directe permettant de traiter des problèmes d'optimisation mixte de grande échelle. Des résultats sur des problèmes difficiles comme le célèbre "unit commitment problem" sont donnés. Sont également intégrés dans cette version les premiers mouvements basés sur une exploration par des techniques de programmation linéaire en nombres entiers ou propagation de contraintes. Ces mouvements à voisinage large permettent de diversifier la recherche lorsque les mouvements à petits voisinages n'y parviennent pas, et donc de converger vers des solutions de meilleure qualité. Enfin, la capacité à prouver l'optimalité ou l'infaisabilité a été améliorée par l'enrichissement des techniques d'inférence intégrées dans LocalSolver. Des benchmarks de performance seront présentés pour illustrer les améliorations proposées dans cette nouvelle version de LocalSolver.

LocalSolver: schémas de modélisation

Tous les modèles ne se valent pas. A chaque technique de résolution sont associés un certain nombre de schémas de modélisation (modeling patterns). Ainsi les modèles conçus pour la Programmation Linéaire en Nombres Entiers (PLNE) nécessitent de linéariser les structures non linéaires du problème, et gagnent à être formulés de façon à définir un bon polyèdre. Ils peuvent aussi intégrer des contraintes visant à briser les symétries. De même, un problème peut être formulé de diverses manières dans le cadre de la Programmation Par Contraintes (PPC), en employant éventuellement des contraintes redondantes pour mieux filtrer, en choissant des variables entières ou ensemblistes, ou encore en adoptant un double point de vue avec contraintes de "channeling". Jusqu'à présent, l'absence de solveur "model & run" pour la recherche locale a masqué quelque peu ces techniques de modélisation pour la recherche locale puisque l'algorithme et le modèle était intimement liés et développés simultanément. Dans cet exposé nous présenterons six principes de modélisation que nous illustrerons par de nombreux modèles LocalSolver.

Optimisation de réseaux publicitaires avec LocalSolver

Metrobus est une filiale commune de JCDecaux et Publicis qui gère et commercialise les emplacements publicitaires dans de nombreux réseaux de transport public en France, dont celui de la RATP en région parisienne. Ces emplacements publicitaires sont vendus par groupe de plusieurs centaines, appelés réseaux. La composition de ces réseaux est déterminée à chaque début d'année, en fonction du marché et du souhait des annonceurs. Dans cet exposé, nous présenterons l'application développée pour optimiser la composition de ces réseaux publicitaires. Il s'agit d'un problème d'affectation où chaque emplacement doit être affecté à un réseau. Les réseaux ainsi consitués doivent respecter un ensemble de critères. Ces critères sont de plusieurs types : critère de répartition géographique, de couverture, de voisinage ou encore critère de pose. Ils sont exprimés sous la forme de buts à atteindre (goal programming). La méthode de résolution proposée repose sur LocalSolver, solveur de programmation mathématique tout-en-un basé sur des techniques de recherche locale. La facilité de modélisation, la richesse des opérateurs couplées au fonctionnement 'model and run' de LocalSolver ont permis d'obtenir de bonnes solutions en quelques jours. Le temps ainsi économisé dans la résolution de ce problème a permis de développer une meilleure interface utilisateur qui est également un facteur clé pour une application de recherche opérationnelle réussie.

Lors des traitements du cancer par chimiothérapie, les préparations à inoculer aux patients sont stockées sous forme de poudre dans des fioles. Une fois mélangées à de l'eau afin de pouvoir les utiliser, les principes contenus sont activés et doivent être consommés avant une certaine durée après laquelle les agents sont trop dégradés pour agir. Etant donnés le temps de traitement, le volume de principe actif nécessaire et la date de fin d'intervention désirée de chaque patient, le problème est un problème d'ordonnancement dans lequel on optimise le nombre de fioles utilisées pour limiter les pertes de produits et les retards. La modélisation retenue s'inspire du problème de Bin Packing, et se réduit d'ailleurs à ce problème lorsque l'on ne prend pas en compte les retards (les dates de fin d'intervention). Nous allons ici nous intéresser au traitement de ce problème par LocalSolver, solveur de programmation mathématique à base de recherche locale. Les résultats seront comparés avec les meilleurs résultats obtenus par programmation linéaire en nombre entiers (PLNE) et par heuristiques.
