LocalSolver is a software editor in the field of optimization and decision support. The company develops and commercializes LocalSolver, an innovative all-terrain & all-in-one mathematical optimization solver. The team also offers expert services in business analytics and operations research covering consulting, prototyping, development, integration, maintenance. Its experts cumulate outstanding skills in mathematical modeling, optimization, forecasting, data analysis, simulation, expert systems, business rules.
The team, originally working in the research & innovation corporate department of Bouygues, namely the Bouygues e-lab, is recognized since 20 years in both industry and academic worlds to develop breaking real-life OR applications and to drive innovation in OR techniques and methodologies. LocalSolver is developed since 2007 and was incorporated as a subsidiary of Bouygues in 2012. The research and development on LocalSolver is conducted in partnership with Marseille Computer Science Laboratory (LIF), a joint research unit of Aix-Marseille University and the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).

Our expertise in the field of operations research and decision support was recognized individually or collectively by several prizes and awards. Working as a service company since 20 years, we have a strong experience in the practice of operations research and the engineering of high-end optimization software.
Thierry Benoist — Managing Director
Since 2000, Thierry has been in charge of many OR projects leading to operational softwares, especially in the Bouygues Group where he headed the Operations Research department from 2006. Graduated from École Polytechnique (1998), he holds a PhD in computer science from Avignon University (2004). Having resulted in several papers in top OR journals, his research in applied combinatorial optimization have been distinguished: 2005 Doctoral Prize for Innovative Applications by French Information Technology Society, 2006 Robert Faure 3rd Prize awarded every three years by French Operations Research Society (ROADEF) to young deserving OR researchers, and finalist of the 2012 EURO Excellence in Practice Award.
Julien Darlay — Lead Scientist
Graduated in information technology, Julien received a PhD in computer science from Grenoble University (2011) for his work at the intersection of combinatorial optimization and data science. He was distinguished in several international OR competitions: 2nd Junior Prize of ROADEF 2009 Challenge, 3rd Senior Prize of ROADEF 2010 Challenge, Kaggle Santa's Stolen Sleigh 2015 Challenge.
Frédéric Gardi — Managing Director
Frédéric conducts OR projects since 20 years in various business areas, from banking to heavy industry. He holds a PhD in computer science from Aix-Marseille University (2005). He won several international OR competitions: 1st Junior and Senior Prize of ROADEF 2005 Challenge, 2nd Senior Prize of ROADEF 2007 Challenge, ROADEF 2011 1st Prize for Industrial Applications. He has published twenty papers in major international journals and conferences at the interfaces of discrete mathematics, computer science and operations research. In 2012, he was the recipient of the ROADEF Robert Faure 1st Prize and finalist of the 2012 EURO Excellence in Practice Award. He served as president of ROADEF from 2014 to 2015.
Romain Megel — Lead Engineer
Graduated in computer science from École des Mines de Nantes (2010), Romain interests and expertise cover a broad range of topics in information technology, from theory to practice and from hardware to software: algorithmics, software engineering, programming languages, operating systems, databases, networks, web technologies, graphical user interfaces, parallel computing.
